ASD High School & Middle School Racing

NSAA is looking to grow its crew of race volunteers. The Green Grunts have long volunteered at the ASD high school & middle school races and also shared their talents with the many other races.

Sunday Citizen Races & FIS/USSS Races

NSAA is looking to develop a crew of volunteers who will begin by working with the Green Grunts at high school races to learn what is involved and take those skills to the AMH, Winterstart, Besh Cups and Junior National Championship races. Committing to all weekends is not required. Each race requires 30-40 volunteers and we’d love you have your energy at these events. AMH Anchorage Cup

The AMH Anchorage Cup Citizen Races are five ski events brought to you by the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage and sponsored by Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking. Skiers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Races are the following Sundays:

  • December 6
  • January 10
  • January 24
  • February 14
  • February 21

Winterstart

The race season opens up with NSAA hosting a pair of USSS/FIS-scored races on November 21 & 22, 2026.

Besh Cups

The Junior Nationals  qualifying race for young athletes is also a set of USSS/FIS scored race on December 19 & 20, 2026.

USSS Junior National Championships

Anchorage will showcase Kincaid park and our welcoming volunteer community to host US Cross Country Junior Nationals March 11-15, 2027. There are many other volunteer opportunities to host this event including positions on the Organizing Committee:

  • Chief of Volunteer Hospitality
  • Chief of Athlete Care
  • Chief of Bibs
  • Chief of Forerunners
