Andrew Lekisch

Andrew Lekisch (1972-1987) was a promising young cross-country skier, runner, and biker when he tragically died while on a training run with friends in the Chugach Mtns. He competed on the West Anchorage High school ski and running teams. An all-around athlete and excellent student he strived to do well in everything he undertook. Family and friends funded and built Andrew’s trail, aka the Lekisch Trail, in his memory. This 7.5 km trail is considered the most challenging trail at Kincaid. His mother Ellen Lekisch put in and maintains a wonderful flower garden at the entrance to the trail as a lasting tribute to her son.
