“I didn’t plan on becoming a Polar Cub. But sometimes, that’s how the Cookie Tour crumbles.”
Throughout the entire year, NSAA maintains, repairs and grooms 150 kilometers of trails that are used by thousands. This provides so many Alaskans with an outlet for exercise, stress relief, and fresh air during dark, cold winters.
NSAA’s world-class trails come at a great bargain! Compare to Nordic skiing rates around the country:
Mount Bachelor: $20 daily per person or $384 yearly per person
Stowe Mountain Resort: $28 daily per person or $209 yearly per person
Royal Gorge: $239 yearly per person
Tahoe Donner: $24-37 daily per person
Eldora Nordic Center: $319 yearly per person or $769 yearly per family
Winter grooming and year-round trail maintenance are only possible because of individual giving from trail users like you! NSAA does not receive any funding from taxpayer dollars.

NSAA is excited to announce our two newest Ski Jumping coaches, Adam Loomis and Chris Lamb!
Adam Loomis was born and raised in Eau Claire, WI and spent most of his childhood with skis on his feet. After graduating high school, Adam made the full move to Steamboat, where he trained for 2 years with the Junior National team. Just after turning 20, Adam was named to the US Nordic Combined Team. He recently retired from the sport, and while training and competing, Adam graduated with a Business Administration degree in 2017. Since ending his competitive career, Adam has been staying active in the mountains – whether on skis, foot or a bike. He’s excited to be a new member of Team AK, where he’ll share his knowledge, experiences and passion with the next generation of Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined athletes.
Chris Lamb is a New Hampshire native and former USA Ski Jumping Team member. He attended the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid, New York from 03-07 and competed as a national team member from 07-14. During his career, Chris was named to 3 Junior World Championship teams, achieved podium finishes at National Championships, scored points in continental cups in Europe, and made the podium in several FIS cup competitions, including two victories in Brattleboro, VT. His personal distance record is 191.5 meters. The last three years of Chris’s career were spent living in Trondheim, Norway where he was a member of the Tronderhopp ski club and trained with many of Norway’s top athletes and coaches. Since ending his career in 2014, Chris has completed a bachelors degree in philosophy and environmental studies at Marlboro College in Marlboro, VT.
NSAA is thrilled to announce the addition of Sara Kamahele as its new Program Manager. Born and raised in Anchorage, Sara is a UAA and UAS graduate who holds a master’s degree in public administration and has extensive program management and nonprofit experience, including working with the American Diabetes Association in Alaska. Sara and her family are also part of our tight-knit Nordic community; she’s been an NSAA event and program participant, volunteer and supporter for most of her life.
Sara credits NSAA for helping her build character in her early years. She worked hard to get her Hawk jacket in Junior Nordic, learning the value of persistence and dedication. A few seasons later, after racing in Besh Cups and for Bartlett High, she felt support from the organization and the local ski community as an NSAA scholarship recipient. Now, as an adult skier, she’s often participating or volunteering at NSAA events and says she is continually inspired by Anchorage’s extensive, world-class trail system and the efforts NSAA puts into the continued maintenance of those trails.
Sara feels that her life and career journey has brought her to a perfect fit on the NSAA staff. We agree and are enthusiastic about what Sara and her background in program management, event management and business administration, can do to elevate NSAA and its programs in the seasons ahead. Sara will no doubt hit the ground running, but please feel free to introduce yourself and join NSAA and its board of directors in welcoming her to our organization. We are all even more excited about the ski season ahead!
