Volunteer With NSAA Programs

Junior Nordic

Anchorage Junior Nordic program provides an opportunity for children to enjoy the Anchorage winter while learning the sport of cross-country skiing. Children ages 6 through 14 of all abilities are welcome to join and learn a sport they can pursue for a lifetime. The emphasis is on having fun and learning proper technique rather than competition.

Coaches are paid employees of NSAA. Please visit the Junior Nordic page for more information.

Volunteer opportunities will be posted on the Volunteer page of the NSAA website.

Ski Mobile

The Ski Mobile works with Physical Education teachers at local schools to bring skiing to elementary students. This year we have added to the fleet with a second Ski Mobile!

We need volunteers to help NSAA staff when visiting schools to:

  • help students determine the correct boot and ski sizes
  • assist in putting on boots and skis
  • encourage skiers as they embark on beginning their introduction to Nordic skiing

The  Ski Mobiles visit schools during the schools two-week unit on skiing. The daily time requirement will depend on the schedule that NSAA works out with a school, but volunteers should expect to be available between 8:30am-2:30pm. It’s OK if you can’t do every day of a unit!

We are building our Ski Mobile crews – with our experienced crew members from our inaugural year and new staff for Ski Mobile II.
As our Program Manager works with schools to build a schedule, we will begin to contact people interested in helping with the Ski Mobiles. At that time, we may create an online sign-up or we will work with the Ski Mobile Crew.

Use the QR code above or  click here to sign up on the Ski Mobile Interest page and a member of the NSAA staff will contact you!
