It’s beginning to look a lot like winter!
The snow is falling all over Anchorage and the surrounding areas and the groomers have been grooming. For the past several weeks, the weather ebbed and flowed with warm temperatures and rain which made grooming the icy trails difficult and at times impossible. Trying to scratch up some icy fines to create a skiable surface was challenging to say the least. The trails in Chugiak/Eagle River and on the Hillside have been getting the Pisten Bully treatment as of today, while a little more base development is in order for Kincaid. The classic skiers should be thrilled to have some tracks up on the Hillside. Keep in mind that as far as snow goes, there really isn’t that much on the trails yet, so please continue to ski with caution as icy patches and rocks may still be present.
For those who use the MOA interactive trail map, please know that it is updated twice daily…once at 9 am and again at 5 pm. Sometimes it’s difficult to post updates prior to that 9 am deadline. So, for more up to the minute reporting it’s a great idea to check the NSAA Trail Report. Thanks for your support and we hope you get out and enjoy the trails!!
