Gearing up for the Season!
It’s mid-October, there is skiable snow in Hatcher Pass and the Mat-Su Ski Club has been grooming the trails for classic and skating at Independence Mine since Monday. Wow! NSAA is also excited to get the show on the road in Anchorage and Eagle River. We are hoping Mother Nature will bless us with a big dump of snow in the near future, but just in case that doesn’t happen the Operations volunteers have been greasing the fans on the snow making equipment and gearing up to get started. Because the Municipality so generously pays the electric bill, we will only begin to make snow when we are certain the temperatures will be cold enough for a sustained period.
In the meantime, hit the NSAA Ski Swap coming up Sunday, October 29 and please be our guest at the NSAA Annual Meeting and Season Kickoff on Sunday, November 5. Bring a side dish to share, enjoy BBQ’d brats, beer and wine and check out what’s new and exciting in the world of winter sports.
It’s going to be a great season and we look forward to seeing you on the trails!
