The trails are still white at Beach Lake

November 9, 2016/in Trails

Bill was on the trails today experimenting to see if he could do something with this old snow and the new frost.  He rigged his grooming apparatus so that it would float over the uneven trail without too much down pressure.  By doing so, he was trying to scratch the base without turning up any dirt.  The results were lame, however, the trails still have 99% coverage and he claims that they are more skiable now than they were most of last season.  On the other hand, they are still hard, rough, uneven with a few rocks, leaves, twigs and some frost heaving and some of the hills have been scraped.  With that being said, skiing on these trails is not for novices or the faint of heart.  In addition, the forecast is for freezing rain.  Awesome!!
