The Guns are Blowing!

M12 hard at work.

The Groomers started making snow around 10pm Wednesday night and had to shut the system down when the temperature rose too high.  They weren’t able to start up again until approximately 12:30 am this morning (Friday) and they’re still blowing!  The temperature has been a steady 22 degrees so they’re taking advantage of these optimal conditions.  Because it’s still not that cold, the guns and lances are turned down to low and they’re pumping out water at 16 gallons/minute.  It’s also a bit breezy today so they have to manually adjust the lances and make sure the snow blows on the trail… and not in the woods.

We’ll do our best to keep you updated and thought you might be interested in the progress, however, don’t get too excited just yet.  These piles have to sit for several days to “dry out” so they can be moved around with the Pisten Bully.  Then the spreading starts.  It will be a while yet before they get a complete loop.  Keep checking these posts for news and information about when to get your skis on.  Have a great weekend!
